| Abstract: | BETWEEN 1951 and 1966, the number of persons in Australia registered as suffering from leprosy has increased from 406 to 1,557. In New South Wales persons registered as "open" cases are customarily isolated until three consecutive smear tests give results. The isolation perios may vary from three months to 20 years or more.(AU).
