| Resumo: | While temporalis transfer offers the patient with moderate or severe lagophthalmos the best possible opportunity to preserve his vision, his comfort, and his appearance, the average results in leprosy are not as good as a few isolated reports in the literature would suggest. In spite of all efforts, full closure may not always be achieved, and the training of the patient to activate the transfer frequently, by reflex and in isolation, may not succeed as well as we had expected. But even with the limited success, most of the patients are symptomatically improved asnd sight is saved that otherwise would be lost. Even when it fails to completely satisfy the patient or the surgeon, a temporalis transfer for lagophthalmos is worthwhile.(AU).
