Abstract: A survey of hospital patients with lepromatous and with tuberculoid leprosy showed 5% of the former and 6.3% of the latter to be carries of hepatitis B antigen. These findings contradict the hypothesis of a genetically detrmined predisposition; opportunity for infection appears rather to be the determining factor. It was also found that 1. the number of carries was higher among patients stayng longer in hospital; 2. titres of antigen in patients with lepromatous leprosy were higher than in those with tuberculoid leprosy or in controls; and 3. antigen titres measured twice at an interval of 4 months indicated that the carryng of hepatitis B antigen in patients with leprosy is satble and persistent.(AU). Abstract: This study illustrates the consequences of smallpox revaccination in 45 lepromatous, 28 tuberculoid, and 47 normal individuals. Results obtained with leprosy were associated with a relative anergy against the vaccinia virus, the anergy being minimal in the tuberculoid leprosy but marked in the cases with lepromatous leprosy.(AU). Abstract: Pesquisou-se, em soros de pacientes de hanseníase, classificados em Rubino positivos e negativos, a presença de auto-anticorpos (anti-tireoglobulina) foram detectados apenas no grupo virchoviano Rubino positivo, com positividade de 43 por cento. O fator reumatóide foi detectado nos dois grupos virchovianos, em 30 por cento e 17 por cento, respectivamente, nos grupos virchovianos Rubino positivo e Rubino negativo, sem que, contudo, a diferença fosse significante..
